Apple is reported to have postponed the rollout of new features that allow users to add a driver’s license or ID to the iPhone wallet app until early 2022. With an update to the official iOS 15 website, Apple announced that this feature will arrive someday. MacRumors reported that the company had previously planned to launch in late 2021.

Apple announced at WWDC 2021 that it is working with several states across the country. This will allow residents to seamlessly and securely add their driver’s license or state ID to their iPhone and Apple Watch wallets. Arizona and Georgia will be the first states to introduce this new innovation to the population, following Connecticut, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Oklahoma, and Utah.

“Adding a driver’s license and state ID to Apple Wallet is an important step in our vision of replacing a physical wallet with a secure and easy-to-use mobile wallet,” said Apple Pay and Vice President of Apple Wallet. Jennifer Bailey says. ..

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) enables selected airport security checkpoints and lanes at participating airports as the first place for customers to use their driver’s license or state ID in their wallets.
